HEEB’s ALIVEEEEE! And we’re screening a Hasidic zombie movie!
Spooky season is officially underway, and HEEB is putting the fun in fundraiser with a screening of “Night of the Living Jews” – probably the only Hasidic zombie film you’ll ever catch on the big screen.
On the first night of Passover, the residents of a remote Jewish bungalow colony are turned into flesh-eating zombies by matzo with a dark history. In the hunt for human flesh, these Hasidic zombies descend on an unsuspecting gentile family in their quiet farmhouse. What happens next? According to the trailer: “the most violent and sexually explicit experience since your bris.”
Inspired by 1970s exploitation horror, director Oliver Noble created this zany short film in 2007 with the support of the original HEEB magazine team – it's rarely been shown since. Join us for a special Wednesday-night screening to support HEEB’s revival. Tickets include the chance to schmooze with members of the old HEEB staff and the new, and a 25% discount on HEEB merchandise to be sold at the event. In addition, the first 30 tickets sold will include a DVD copy of Noble’s film! Even if you can’t make the screening, join us afterwards for drinks at a nearby watering hole (details to come). Special guests include former HEEB comics editor Jeff Newelt!
Program will run 60 minutes.
